n write to Rajesh Ojha at info@banjaracamps.com or call him at +91 9810040397.
He is a very nice gentleman and may remember Simba. Please note that all these retreats and camps are in Himachal Pradesh.
Retreat at Sojha. These are the places
where we stayed with Simba. We also had other people with their four
legged friends. Banjara Camps allow dogs in their retreats and Camps.
You can get details about them at
2. Log Huts Manali - Simba stayed with us here. These huts are by HPTDC. We normally go to Manali in winters when there is hardly any crowd and stay at Log huts. These huts are individual units with one or two bedrooms and a fully equiped kitchen. In winter these are at 70% of the cost. There was one Mr. Chhabi Thakur, the contact person there. Contact: (01902) - 253225, 253226.
3. Mountain Resort Khali Estate, Binsar - These people love dogs. They will volunteer to walk your dogs. This is a beautiful place in Kumaon and more than 100 years old. Early morning you see 180deg panorama of mighty Himalayan peaks. Himanshu Pandey owns this place. The contact details are +91-22-24042211 (Mumbai for reservation), E-mail : khaliestate@nivalink.com.
4. Kalmatia Sangam - This is in Almora. Owned by an Indian lady and her German husband. They too allow dogs. The only questin they ask is whether the dog is house trained. The contact details are - manager@kalmatia-sangam.com and geeta1@nde.vsnl.net.in.
5. Himalayan Village, Sonapani - This place is also in Kumaon. We stayed here for 3 - 4 days with Simba. Only problem is that one has to walk quite a distance from where you park your car. Also, in the evening, one has to be careful and not leave the dog alone as sometimes leopards come in the campus looking for dogs. Contact details - ashish@himalayanvillage.com, navin@himalayanvillage.com, (+91)9719005900, 9810633350, 9810881491. http://www.himalayanvillage.com/
6. Cloudend Forest Resort, Musoorie - We stayed here for 4 days. The acommodation is ok. The plus point is that they allow dogs. Place is owned by Mr. Digvijay Agarwal. Contact details - 91-135-2632242, Mobile : 09412050242.
7. This is a family run beautiful place to stay. Very good homely food. They too have a female German Shephered and Simba spent the whole night courting her. Contact details - 0145-2621607.
Few words of caution: in the mountains one has to be careful of two things - attack of leopards, and local dogs. If there is a dog bite, it is better to see a vet immediately. Because in mountains there are very few people who get their dogs vaccinated. We had couple of incidences but Simba was the winner. To avoid leopard attack it is advisable not to go out with your dog after sunset. We still take Simba to Mountains, so can all of you. I will give more hotels. Also, please publish these as there will be many families who would like to take their four legged friend on vacation.

Hotels Resorts that are Pet friendly near by Mumbai.
Dear Readers
There are lots of resorts that are pet friendly near mumbai when you are looking at taking short weekend breaks.
One such place that has started it recently is - Manas Lifestyle resort.
You may look at their website - www.manaslifestylerest.in
They have limited cottage rooms that they have dedicated to pet families. Although they allow cats as well as dogs, it may be better if you keep your cats in the room and not let it out. This place is surrounded by Forrest hand and if your kitty has a habit of wandering off, it might prove difficult to find her.
For dogs however, this holiday will be as much fun as it is for you.
The rooms offered are set apart from their regular rooms and is like a self contained cottage of 4 rooms. it has its own compound and garden and gate. This allowed us to let out dog out of the room and let him have a run around. He could laze in the veranda with us in the evening. He could be let out of the room without supervision (provided the gates to the cottage are closed and there are no aggressive doggie neighbors!!) for his calls of nature. There is a bathing area provided in the garden where you can bathe your dog. Towels and basic dog soaps are available on request, but if you prefer to use certain shampoos and grooming products for your dog, please carry your own.
Also, i thought this was very considerate and cute that the rooms had small little doggie menu cards. From which you can order meals for your dog.
The pricing is such that you buy a holiday package of 2 nights or just room if it is for 1 night for you and your family and the dog is treated as an extra person @ 350/- per night.
Your dog stays with you in your room and you can all enjoy the quick getaway without leaving him in the kennels.
The resort has certain terms and conditions against damage to the furniture & fixtures due to chewing or scratching by your dog. there are fines involved. wetting the mattress or tearing towels is also chargeable. so if your dog is not a well behaved dog who is house broken, then this trip might turn out to be very expensive. Also i usually advise people that if your dog has any aggression problems or socializing problems, where they tend to get aggressive towards other people, or children or other dogs then it is best to not take your dog along on any trips where there will be other dogs and children and people. It will not only spoil your holiday but also theirs.
I completely recommend this resort for a wonderful weekend getaway with your family or with just your dog!
Have a great time!
